Yosemite National Park

Views of Yosemite National Park

The town of El Portal, on the winding road leading up to Yosemite Park. It started out as a gold mining town.

View from my hotel room, which was just outside Yosemite Park and by the Merced River.

From the tour's flat bed, view of Full Dome, the remains of a ancient volcano.

Half Dome, the remains of a ancient volcano that has been worn away by a glacier.

The Merced River, which flows through the Yosemite Valley. It is low due to it being the dry season.

View down into the Yosemite Valley. Carved by glacial action.

View of El Capitan, which rises about 3,000 feet above the valley floor. Dozens of climbers were on its face.

View of Mirror Lake, which is dry this time of year. I hiked 5 miles up and 5 miles down.

View of Yosemite Lower Fall, which is dry this time of year.

View of Yosemite Creek, which is dry this time of year.
